BORGO CONVENTI
FRIULI, ITALY

Borgo Conventi

Giancarlo Moretti Polegato and his family acquired Borgo Conventi, a renowned winery with vineyards in the Collio area in 2019. It was an easy and heartfelt choice to make, but it was also shaped by the belief in the great potential of an appellation that is ideal for grape growing.

Founded in 1975, it has been named after a cloister built by Dominican Fathers. The winery is among the most modern ones in the region and since the foundation it has been focused on extreme care in viticulture and in wine making.

It’s a winery with a deep territorial identity in one of the most prestigious production areas in Italy.  The importance of an appellation’s identity and the preservation of a grape variety’s classic characteristics is the basis of the Moretti Polegato family work.

“It was a dream come true for producers like our family so deeply connected with territory, seeking for excellence while committed to environment safeguard and identity.”- says Mr Giancarlo Moretti Polegato. The winery relies on about 30 ha vineyards in the Collio and Isonzo DOC area

Aware that the future is depending on commitment to sustainability, Giancarlo Moretti Polegato has transferred to Borgo Conventi the same low- impact practices as the ones followed by Villa Sandi in the Prosecco area, and Borgo Conventi has been certified “Biodiversity Friend” since the 2019 harvest.

“We arrived in the land of Collio with the desire to learn more about an appellation that was new to us. Our goal was to work in harmony with the appellation’s rhythms, aware and grateful to a land that gives us everything to deliver high quality”.

Sauvignon DOC Collio 2019 has been awarded with Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso 2021
