Chateau Barrabaque

Perched on the rolling limestone slopes of Fronsac and Canon Fronsac, just a stone’s throw from the celebrated vineyards of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, Château Barrabaque stands as a proud expression of Bordeaux’s Right Bank heritage. Rooted in tradition yet guided by a contemporary vision, the estate crafts elegant, terroir-driven wines that showcase the richness and finesse of Merlot, the region’s signature varietal.

The story of Château Barrabaque is deeply intertwined with family, passion, and perseverance. In 1936, Achille Noël, a wine merchant from Lille with a profound appreciation for Bordeaux, acquired the historic 18th-century property. Over the decades, the estate flourished under the stewardship of Nicole Noël, whose dedication helped establish Château Barrabaque as one of the emblematic names of the Fronsac appellation.

In 2004, a new generation took the reins as Caroline Noël-Barroux returned to the family domaine after gaining valuable experience in nearby Saint-Émilion. Bringing both respect for tradition and a fresh, modern perspective, she continues to elevate the estate’s reputation while preserving the authenticity and character that define Barrabaque’s wines.

Today, Château Barrabaque is celebrated for producing wines of remarkable depth, elegance, and balance—wines that faithfully reflect the unique clay-limestone terroirs of Fronsac. Consistently recognized by critics and awarded multiple “Coup de Cœur” distinctions in the prestigious Guide Hachette, the estate remains a shining ambassador for the appellation and a testament to the enduring strength of family-owned Bordeaux winemaking.
