LIQUORIFICIO 1864
CALABRIA, ITALY

Liquorificio 1864

1864

A few years after the unification of Italy, Raffaello Bosco, in the province of Cosenza, enjoys macerating in the basement of his house the medicinal herbs he collects at the foot of the Sila, experimenting with recipes for aniseed liqueurs and herbal elixirs with a unique and intense flavor. Thus begins the first chapter of a story more than 150 years long. The story of Liquorificio 1864.

1950

During the years of the so-called “economic boom” the liquor trade also experienced a period of growth. The products of the Bosco factory, appreciated for their flavour, the aromas that recall Calabria and their digestive properties, were consumed both at home and abroad, also expanding overseas.

2005

In 2005, a group of entrepreneurs: Elvira, Antonella and Gianni Regina together with Orlando Marcelletti founded Liquorificio 1864 with the aim of relaunching and exporting the unique and authentic flavours of these elixirs throughout the world, while always remaining faithful to the roots and original recipes preserved in the archives of Raffaello Bosco.

2021

The bitters market is expanding to an increasingly younger audience. In collaboration with international bartenders, many innovative recipes for cocktails and drinks based on Amaro Silano, Sambuca and Anise are born, which are also awarded at the World Liqueur Awards as the best aniseed liqueurs in the world.

Looking to the future, without forgetting the past.

Liquorificio 1864 was born with a precise objective: to relaunch and make people enjoy the authentic liqueurs of Calabria both in Italy and abroad, while always remaining faithful to the taste of tradition.

Following this philosophy, forgotten products have been brought back into fashion, re-proposed according to the ancient recipes of Raffaello Bosco, such as Il Nerò Liquirizia, Millefiori and Alchermes and all the packaging of the most historic and iconic products of the brand such as Amaro Silano, Sambuca and Anice have been renewed.
