PICHON CLAUDE-MICHEL
LOIRE, FRANCE

PICHON Claude-Michel

Property of Claude Michel PICHON, winegrower in Vallet, the capital of Nantes vineyards. The estate unites traditions and modernity regarding wine-making and ‘Sur Lie’ maturing of its wine.

The PICHON family are winegrowers from father to son. Claude Michel PICHON is now representing the sixth generation. After 12 years as a winemaker and buyer in Loire Valley, he took over the family estate in 2006, succeeding to Raymond PICHON, his father. On that date, the property stretched over 40 Ha. Quickly, Claude Michel regained very qualitative local soils on Vallet and Le Landreau district. Nowadays, the property stretches over 93 hectares.

The average age of the vines is around 30 years old. One of the strengths of their vineyard is the adaptation of grape-varieties to the type of soil. In fact, their vines are growing up exclusively on soils composed of Gneiss - micaschist and granite.

They are always looking for the latest modern wine-making techniques such as the cold maceration of the must to express as much as possible the natural fruit of the grape. The thermovinification of their red wines and the production of wines without sulfites are also mastered by their winemaking team. Since 2020, their vines are certificated HVE (Haute Valeur Environementale - High Environmental Value).
