From the moment that Principe de Viana founded its first winery in Murchante in 1983, the company has developed so significantly that within only 25 years it has become one of the largest and most prestigious wineries of Navarra. The company’s financial stability and sworn devotion to research, quality and innovation have been recognized both by earning ISO 9001 through numerous medals won within the world’s most prestigious competitions. The winery has consistently exported more wine than any other in the region of Navarra since 1996, a fact which firmly underlines its overall performance.
CUTTING EDGE VITICULTURE AND OENOLOGY
Vineyards are situated in the historically privileged area of the Ribera Baja of Navarra. Varietal Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Viura also known as Macabeo and Chardonnay make up a total planting of 1,400 hectares.
Viticultural management employs the world’s most modern and contemporary technology aiming for ideal vineyard development. Planting is controlled by GPS and laser marking, while vines are monitored by computers viewing soil humidity sensors, local weather stations and daily plant growth data. The methods employed are both modern, environmentally sound and sustainable; at all times respecting local habitat without intervention in water courses or soil movement.
The result is simple - the highest quality grapes. These are harvested and taken to the winery which due to its impressive scale and state of the art technology has become an eye-catching location to a growing public fascinated by the arts of winemaking. The goal of the winery team is nothing less than to make a range of wines which can satisfy the most demanding of palates.
