VILLA SANDI

Villa Sandi

In the heart of Veneto, where rolling vineyard-covered hills meet centuries of history, Villa Sandi stands as one of Italy's most iconic ambassadors of Prosecco. More than a winery, it is a living expression of family heritage, architectural beauty, and an unwavering commitment to showcasing the finest wines of the Treviso region.

The story begins in the early 1920s when Mario Polegato, grandfather of the current generation, first invested in vineyards and laid the foundations for what would become one of Italy's most respected wine estates. Through decades of dedication, the family's passion for wine deepened, passing from one generation to the next and evolving alongside the remarkable growth of the Veneto wine industry.

A defining chapter arrived in the late 1970s when the Moretti Polegato family acquired Villa Sandi itself—a magnificent Palladian-style villa dating back to 1622. Meticulously restored, the estate became both the symbolic and operational heart of the winery. Surrounded by vineyards and steeped in history, the villa embodies the connection between the cultural heritage of Veneto and the region's enduring agricultural traditions.

Under the leadership of Giancarlo Moretti Polegato, Villa Sandi emerged as one of the pioneering forces behind the international success of Prosecco. Long before the category achieved global acclaim, the winery helped introduce the wines of Treviso to markets around the world, championing quality, authenticity, and a deep respect for place. Today, the family remains among the leading custodians of the Prosecco denomination, with vineyard holdings that span the region's most prestigious appellations, including Prosecco DOC, Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG, and the celebrated hills of Cartizze.

Innovation has always accompanied tradition at Villa Sandi. During the restoration of the estate, historic underground tunnels were rediscovered beneath the villa. These galleries inspired the creation of the winery's Metodo Classico sparkling wine program, giving rise to Opere Trevigiane, a range that quickly established itself among Italy's most respected traditional-method sparkling wines.

While Prosecco remains at the heart of the winery's identity, Villa Sandi's vision extends beyond sparkling wine. The estate cultivates vineyards across diverse terroirs throughout Veneto, producing wines that express the character, history, and indigenous varieties of the region. Every bottle reflects a philosophy that balances precision and innovation with a profound respect for the land.

Among its many achievements, Villa Sandi has earned widespread critical acclaim for Cartizze La Rivetta, one of the benchmark wines of the Prosecco world. Sourced from the prized Cartizze cru, this wine has received repeated recognition from Italy's most influential wine critics, reinforcing the estate's reputation for excellence.

Today, Villa Sandi remains a proudly family-owned winery, now in its fourth generation. Guided by the same values that inspired its founders, the Moretti Polegato family continues to look toward the future while remaining firmly rooted in the traditions of Veneto. Through sustainable vineyard practices, a commitment to quality, and a passion for sharing the culture of Prosecco with the world, Villa Sandi has become not only a leading producer, but also a true ambassador for one of Italy's most celebrated wine regions.
